A friend told me I should introduce myself, so here we go :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My name is Caroline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I live in a nineteenth-century farmhouse in central France with my husband Rob and our cat Pixie. We also have chickens and rabbits. I am French and my husband is English. We met in Britain where I lived for 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our small farmhouse is in the middle of the Sologne region in France, some 5 km from our village. The house was pretty derelict when we first moved in and my husband has been busy bringing it slowly to the 21st century. It used to belong to my father and my grandfather before him. My father who used to live in his farmhouse some 800 m away, farmed the land until 1997. Our house was mostly abandoned after my grandfather passed away in 1980. It became more and more derelict until we decided to move here in 2012. The land has now gone back to wilderness and a young forest is slowly growing in place of the old cultivated fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After school I moved to England where I did a few different jobs in sales mostly within the fashion industry. Back in France I went into teaching and translating English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a keen interest in the natural world, I have become a degrowth advocate and I love to promote gardening and everything linked to well-being in connection with nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This blog about the garden and our food production, is my part of the story in the La-Darnoire adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je m’appelle Caroline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Je vis dans une ferme du XIXe si\u00e8cle dans le centre de la France avec mon mari Rob et notre chatte Pixie. Nous avons aussi des poules et des lapins. Je suis fran\u00e7aise et mon mari est anglais. Nous nous sommes rencontr\u00e9s en Grande-Bretagne o\u00f9 j’ai v\u00e9cu pendant 20 ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notre petite ferme se trouve au milieu de la Sologne, en France, \u00e0 environ 5 km de notre village. La maison \u00e9tait assez d\u00e9labr\u00e9e lorsque nous avons emm\u00e9nag\u00e9 et mon mari s’est employ\u00e9 \u00e0 la faire entrer lentement dans le XXIe si\u00e8cle. Elle appartenait \u00e0 mon p\u00e8re et \u00e0 mon grand-p\u00e8re avant lui. Mon p\u00e8re, qui vivait dans sa ferme \u00e0 800 m de l\u00e0, a cultiv\u00e9 la terre jusqu’en 1997. La maison a \u00e9t\u00e9 en grande partie abandonn\u00e9e apr\u00e8s le d\u00e9c\u00e8s de mon grand-p\u00e8re en 1980. Elle est devenue de plus en plus d\u00e9labr\u00e9e jusqu’\u00e0 ce que nous d\u00e9cidions d’y emm\u00e9nager en 2012. La terre est maintenant redevenue sauvage et une jeune for\u00eat pousse lentement \u00e0 la place des anciens champs cultiv\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir termin\u00e9 mes \u00e9tudes, j’ai d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 en Angleterre o\u00f9 j’ai occup\u00e9 diff\u00e9rents emplois dans la vente, principalement dans le secteur de la mode. De retour en France, j’ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 enseigner l\u2019anglais tout en faisant des traductions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ayant un int\u00e9r\u00eat marqu\u00e9 pour le monde naturel, je suis devenue un d\u00e9fenseur de la d\u00e9croissance et j’aime promouvoir le jardinage et tout ce qui est li\u00e9 au bien-\u00eatre en lien avec la nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
