Briefly, a batch box rocket mass heater is a cross between a rocket stove and a mass heater. Unlike a rocket stove, which is fed constantly, one fills the firebox with wood, and the whole lot is burned at once. The majority of the heat produced is stored in the "thermal mass" from where it is gradually radiated outwards to heat the room for a long period of time. And finally, here's a short video of the rocket heater in action. This was only the third small burn. Because the firebox and mass have not yet fully dried, the rocket has not yet reached full "afterburner" mode!
